A main contractor handing interior works to a specialist subcontractor needs clear boundaries, shared information and records. This checklist covers what to settle before mobilisation, how to escalate and what to collect at closeout.
Scope boundaries and interfaces
State what the subcontractor does and what it relies on others to do: substrates, services, hoarding, temporary power and cleaning. Interfaces left unassigned become disputes later.
Before mobilisation
- Current drawings and specification issued to everyone involved.
- Programme with dependencies and access windows agreed.
- Material submittals and approvals in place for long-lead items.
- Permits, insurance and site induction requirements met.
- Inspection points and hold points listed.
Daily coordination and instructions
A short daily check on who is where, what is blocked and what is needed tomorrow prevents most clashes. Site instructions should be written, numbered and acknowledged.
Escalating delays and clashes
Agree in advance who decides what and within what time. When a delay or clash appears, raise it with the facts and the options the same day instead of letting each party solve it separately.
Records needed at closeout
- Inspection and test records that apply to the work.
- Product information, warranties and care guidance.
- The snagging list, with closure confirmed.
- Approved changes and the final account.
Questions clients ask
How should interfaces be allocated?
Name each one in the subcontract with a responsible party, so nothing sits between two scopes.
What should be agreed before mobilisation?
Drawings, programme, approvals, permits, inspection points and who decides what.
How SADEED works with main contractors
Where SADEED is the interior subcontractor, we ask for scope boundaries and current drawings up front, record instructions in writing and deliver closeout records that fit the scope.
